On Friday afternoon, I escaped the wave of nerds con floor to join my friend Lisa at her hotel's pool.

While we were sitting there, we saw this...

Holy Tanlines, Batman! )

It was ah...pretty amazing.

More photos as I get 'em...

The picture behind the cut tells us important information that we all need to know about me. )

A million internets to be won for the person who can size that down into an LJ icon so that the text remains legible. I have so far been unable to do it.

...does that make the whole thing a lie?

This is a list of the 50 most significant science fiction/fantasy novels, 1953-2002, according to the Science Fiction Book Club. Bold the ones you've read, strike-out the ones you hated, italicize those you started but never finished, and put an asterisk* beside the ones you loved.

Onto the list! )

Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] offbalance, I got to see a Marvel-sponsored preview of X:3 last night.

I was prepared for the worst. An absolute shitstorm with no coherence and phoned-in performances.

What I got was a lovely tribute to my two favorite X-Men series*, and more pretty than you could shake a stick at.

Ben Foster still needs to call me.

I will happily throw down $10.50 to see this again.

--------
*Grant Morrison's "New X-Men," and the first story arc of Joss Whedon's "Astonishing X-Men"
