I'm going to go hang my head in shame.

I'll be in the corner.

*Note: I like the video specifically. The song is meh.

For those of you on my flist who are familiar with Tory Cassis's album "Anywhere But Here," and are also fans of Supernatural, [livejournal.com profile] airspaniel and I suggest you listen to the whole album through, thinking about the show. (This may only apply to [personal profile] sugar, [livejournal.com profile] donnagirl, and maybe some other old-guard Fruheads..)

The song, "Leaning on the Stair" straight sounds like the entire fucking premise of the show.

Every song that came up, [livejournal.com profile] airspaniel and I laughed harder and harder.

I'll try and get a copy up for those of you who haven't heard it.

But omg. LULZ.

The concert was everything I hoped it would be.

I heard the songs I've put on every roadtrip mix tape since before I could even drive.

I sang along to lyrics I've had in my heart for half my life.

After, the man responsible for one of my Desert Island Albums came out and I stuck my hand out to him, and he took it.

"Thank you for a wonderful show!"

"You're welcome!"

"I uh, I've been waiting fourteen years to see you guys. Thank you." He looked a little stunned when I said that.

"What's your name?" He took my hand to shake it again.

"Jill."

"I'm Roger. Thanks for coming out. Please come again."

"I will."

Fans a lot more eager to talk and get their pictures taken were encroaching, so I went back to my car.

I drove home on a velvet black interstate, alone and lovely under the full moon.

Once every five years or so, Weezer comes out with a music video that rocks the world's collective faces.

The original "Buddy Holly" video.

The video for "Keep Fishin" with the Muppets.

And now this... )

God Damn, The Mountain Goats are awesome.

I want to hug John Darnielle.

I got to see what I'm sure was a very special performance. It was a solo show, and he played "old stuff."

I squeed my pants for "Up the Wolves," "Alibi," and "The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton."

The highlight was when he played "Wild Sage," which I know I've heard before, but wasn't on my heavy rotation.

He played it off-mike, but he sang loud enough that his voice carried. It was so, so special.

I felt almost like I did when Moxy Fruvous stepped back to watch the audience sing the last repeat chorus of The Drinking Song in Oberlin.

He encored with "This Year," which almost made me cry.

I can't wait to see him/them again.

Oh my God, it clearly must be Piss Off a Leopard week.

After yet another day where I was in the office after 6pm through no fault of my own, I decided not to bail on [livejournal.com profile] idwoman and go to the Enter the Haggis concert as planned.

What a fucking mistake.

Suffice it to say, that's $12 I'll never see again.

I was not going to sit through Christ only knows how many shitty opening bands until ETH graced us with their presence at 10 fucking 30 on a Thursday night. Oh HELL no.

And when we asked (demanded, really) our money back, we were simply told "All sales are final." (The first person to remind me that's standard club procedure will find my fist appearing through their computer screen. No really. Try it.[anyone who tries to be cute and comment with that just because I said this will get their comment deleted. no really. try it.])

I love Enter the Haggis, I really do, but I'm tired, I'm cranky, I'm crampy, and I wasn't in the greatest of moods to start with. Having to sit through Mr "I Can Play like Dave Matthews and John Mayer and Sing in a Cracking Voice That's Sometimes On Key with Lyrics I Scribbled While Drunk in Freshman Comp Class" was NOT helping matters.

I wasn't even prepared to give the second opening act, which was obviously on its way out, a minute of my time.

Fruvous really spoiled me for good opening bands. Sheesh.

I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday.
